New Wave has worked extensively within the Technology sector to provide quality IT staff without charging agency fees. Working with Smart Media, a software house specialising in Internet and Intranet business applications, we helped to address some of the issues faced by their recruitment team, such as:
• Cost of using agencies.
At an average of £6000 per agency placement Smart Media’s recruitment costs were consistently over-budget. The Assignment model, which operates on a fixed fee of £3000 per assignment, meant Smart Media were able to make multiple placements from one assignment, reducing their cost per hire to around £1000.
• Insufficient in-house resources to consider direct advertising.
Although Smart Media had already identified advertising as a more cost-effective method of recruiting, there were insufficient resources to deal with the expected response. As part of the Assignment model New Wave assigned an account manager to carry out this task, consulting with the hiring manager throughout the process to ensure the accuracy of the CV’s selected.
• Lack of candidate exclusivity.
Smart Media had expressed concerns that most recruitment agencies show very little loyalty to a particular client when presenting CV’s. A recruitment consultant will invariably send the best candidates to the client likely to pay the biggest fee. The Assignment model guaranteed Smart Media total candidate exclusivity, so all candidates responding to the Smart Media campaign were only put forward to Smart Media.
